Time for a Tea Break
Tea has been part of British society and identity since the 17th century. We are the third-largest consumer of tea in the world per capita, with 84% of Brits drinking tea every single day (according to the UK Tea & Infusions Association). But while you might make a cup of tea without a second thought, are you sure you know the right way to brew it? How about fruit or herbal teas?
The brief guide below should help you prepare the perfect brew with some of our most popular tea hampers.
Ceylon Tea
A black tea sourced in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, Ceylon tea is known for its bold, full-bodied flavour and bright, golden-red colour. It is often used in English Breakfast tea blends.
Found in: Vintage Tea Hamper Basket, Tea Time Delights Bag
Preparation instructions: Brew for 3-5 minutes in boiling water. Add milk and sugar to taste.
Perfect for: an energy boost for early mornings or after lunch!
Strawberry and Raspberry Tea
With a fruity flavour, this strawberry and raspberry infused tea can also be enjoyed cold as a refreshing drink on warm days.
Found in: Afternoon Tea, Berry-Licious Cream Tea Gift
Preparation instructions: Use freshly boiled water and brew for 3-5 minutes.
Perfect for: pairing with a dessert or sweet treat that compliments its taste. It’s also a good choice for the evening, as it is caffeine-free.
Green Tea
Green tea is produced by steaming or pan-frying the leaves soon after they are picked, which helps to preserve the natural antioxidants found in the tea.
Found in: Time for Tea
Preparation instructions: Brew for 2-3 minutes in hot (not boiling!) water, to avoid ruining the tea and leaving it tasting bitter. Add lemon and honey to taste.
Perfect for: helping boost the immune system.
Unsure where to start? Our Celebratory High Tea in Hamper Basket gift includes a wonderful range of Ceylon teas to try.
