Festive Christmas Tree Delight
Our recipe for the week is going to be the star of your Christmas festivities! This gorgeous dessert is so scrumptious, we can’t get enough of it here!
Ingredients For the Tree & Decorations:
Plain Bread Flour
1 tbsp Dried Yeast
2 tsp Caster Sugar
1.2 tsp Salt
250ml Milk, warm
2 tbsp Melted Butter Filling
Pistachio Spread
Chocolate Spread
Method
Creating the dough
Step 1 Combine flour, yeast and sugar in a large bowl. Stir in the salt. Use your hands to make a well in the centre, then add milk and butter.
Step 2 Using a wooden spoon, stir the mix until it becomes consistent , then using your hands, mix it together further in the bowl. Lightly flour a surface and turn the mixture out onto it. Knead the mixture for approximately 10 minutes, until you can see the dough become smooth and gain elastic properties.
Step 3 Take a large bowl, and brush it with olive oil. Place the dough mix into the bowl and cover with a tea towel. Set it aside in a draught free, warm place for around an hour. In this time it should have doubled in size at least, and is now almost ready. Punch the dough right in the middle to compress it, and turn it back out onto another lightly floured surface. Knead for another two minutes – now the dough is ready!
Creating the tree
Cut the dough into four equal sized pieces, leaving a bit to the side for later. Roll them out into a Christmas tree shape. Cover the triangle in pistachio spread, and use the chocolate spread through the centre like the trunk of the tree! Take the second tree shape and layer it on top, and repeat until you have dough on top. Now make several cuts outwards from the trunk and twist. Preheat your oven at approximately 200c, and put the tree in for 25 minutes, or until golden brown!
No tree is a Christmas tree until its decorated, so using a bit of the leftover dough from earlier, make a long flat shape and cover with chocolate spread, and roll it up like you would a swiss roll. Cut slices out of it and press onto the tree for festive baubles!!!!
